Wow...I haven't updated this in a looonnng time!

Our adoption is...going....slowly but still going.
We finished our home study at the beginning of April...took a while to get it in our hands though, which delayed some other things.
Finally on April 20th, we filed our Orphan Petition (which is getting the US gov approval). This could take up to half a year of waiting now...

Meanwhile, we are finishing up our dossier. The dossier is the big package of info that goes to the Ethiopia government. We are actually pretty much done the dossier, just waiting for a couple things to get back to us.
Once it is all put together, we take it into Boise to be authenticated by the Secretary of State. Then we send it to Washington DC to be authenticated and approved by the US and the Ethiopian Embassy.
Once that is done, we send it to Ethiopia and then wait for our referral!

We qualified for a grant!
It is from God's Grace Ministries.
They have given us a matching grant of up to $2500.
This is means that we need to find donations to match up to $2500 and they will double them. If you would like to donate and help us match the grant, please let us know and we will get you the info needed. We have until June 1, 2009 to try to raise the money to match. They will only match up to the amount donated so we really need to raise money to use this grant to the fullest!

We are so excited to see God answering our prayers and working out all the details of our adoption. Everything has gone so smoothly so far...little too slowly for me :) but smoothly.
God is great!

This makes me cry...I know we have just only begun the whole adoption process but there's a longing for this unknown baby that I can't explain.

Ink Cartridge and Cell Phone Fund Raiser

I don't know how many people read this anymore, but I thought I'd try.
We could really use some help raising money for our adoption.
We decided to try doing an ink cartridge and cell phone fund raiser.
If you have any old ink cartridges or cell phones to donate, a recycling company will pay cash to our adoption agency for anything collected. We would love some help in collecting as many as possible. If anyone has work connections to get all their old ones, that would be awesome. I think I can even have shipping supplies sent to anyone so they can directly ship the cartridges and cell phones to the company in our name.

Thank-you for any help you can give! We are trying our hardest to raise this money so we can bring home a baby from Ethiopia as soon as possible!

A little update on the adoption...
We met with the Home Study agency yesterday. They are basically the ones who convince the government that we can afford to adopt. The director at the agency looked at our finances, budget, etc and thinks that they should be able to work with us. She said that the government would probably return the home study and want more info on how we will pay for the adoption but that we should qualify! :)
Yay for some good news finally.
So now we are going to spend the rest of 2008 trying to raise funds for adopting our baby and then hopefully begin the process in Jan 2009. The Home Study agency said that the more actual funds we had, the better we look to the government.

That's where we're at now. We are probably going to set up a fund raising account with the Home Study agency so that gifts are tax deductible...just working on that right now.
If you would like to help out, please let us know. If you would like a copy of our support letter, please email us your address. We appreciate everyone's prayer and support through this.

Uncle Jay comes to visit

Uncle Jason came down from Alaska for a hunting trip and stopped in to see us for the week-end. The boys had a great time visiting with their uncle. Traeton especially loved Uncle Jay. We probably drove him nuts but we had a great time with Uncle Jason!

The boys ~ right before Konrad and Tiernan twisted around a rope onto their heads within minutes of each other and then Konrad pushed Tiernan down and made him majorly bleed from his arm
Hey ~ at least they were happy for the picture :)

PROOF THAT MY CHILDREN ARE HALF-CANADIAN

Tuesday, July 01, 2008

It was Tiernan's 3rd Birthday yesterday ~ I can't believe my middle baby is so old already!
We had a combined b-day party for him again with his friends Elyssa and Brooklyn last week-end.
On his actual b-day, we hung out as a family ~ went for a trip to the zoo and to Chuck E. Cheese.
Our little Nugget is growing up :)

Our New House!!!
We bought our first house at the beginning of this month. My parents rolled into town on "vacation" right on time to help us fix it all up...they worked from pretty much sun up to way after sun down for a week.
We never could've been in this house without their help!

Did a little fishing while waiting for the house to "close"

Look at the beautiful floor my Dad put in for us ~ he did our bonus room, kitchen and front entry

My Mom cleaned pretty much everything in the house and then had "time left over" to help me paint every room in the house.
We feel so blessed to have this house. What a blessing to have parents who give so much to make something like this happen for us ~ thanks again Dad and Mom!

Silly Kids

Sometimes I end up babysitting like a dozen kids ~ can be a little crazy but fun for the kids.
I took out my camera to play with one time and got some silly pics of Konrad and Tiernan and their friends, Isaak and Elyssa.
Really not an exciting post ~ no story or anything ~ just some goofy kid pictures ~ but hey, they're cute!

Silly Putty is just like gum. You shouldn't let your children sleep with it.
If they do, it might get stuck in their hair. If it gets stuck in their hair, their head might get stuck to their pillow. If their head gets stuck to their pillow, they might be screaming for your help to get unstuck WAY EARLY in the morning. If they are screaming for your help, you might have to roll out of bed and deal with a blob of green stuff in their hair.
If you have to deal with a blob of green stuff stuck in their hair, maybe try getting it wet and brushing it out before you impulsively cut a big bald spot on their head.
If you brush it out, it might take a while and be a lot of work but then your kid might not look like such a dork with a big bald spot on the side of his head.
If you do impulsively cut a big bald spot on the side of his head, maybe shave his head and not be so lazy that he goes a couple weeks looking like a dork before you shave his head.
All this to say, silly putty is just like gum ~ you probably shouldn't let your children sleep with it ~ might save your child some embarrassment and you some early rising.

Traeton Tricks
Baby Trae just wanted to share a few of his new tricks with you. He's been learning a lot in the last little while ~ some wonderful new tricks taught by his big bros and some by his Mommy and Daddy.

He blows the best kisses around,

and waves "hi" (and says "hi") and "bye-bye" with the best of greeters,

and most definitely gives the best (and slobberyest) baby kisses in the world!
He also knows how to roar like a lion, shoot webs like Spiderman (he actually kinda makes the pointed hand position and makes the "sppp" shooting sound) (that was taught to him by the Nugget), make tooting sounds on command (that was also taught by his big bros) , and play bonks (bumping heads together)(taught by his Daddy), give high-fives and bumps, and points and says "whaztha". He is also quite an incredible dancer ~ he constantly is dancing to music in his head (I call him August, from the movie August Rush, you'd understand if you've watched it)
What can I say, our baby's a genius ~ destined for greatness with his realm of knowledge! :)
My own little side note ~ I taught him all the NORMAL stuff!!!
I can't really control what he learns in this house full of boys!!

Bath Boys
A few pics of Baby TraeTrae's first time in the bath without his bath ring. He is pretty pleased now to be a big boy in the bath with his brothers. I'm very thankful for the broken jacuzzi tub in this house ~ it may not work but at least its big to fit all my big boys together!
Konrad would like you all to notice his goatee (and Baby Trae's in some of the pics). He likes to pretend that he is Moses (random, I know)

We had a mini-Easter party a couple days before Easter. A bunch of the boys' friends (and their Mommys) came over to decorate Easter eggs. Most of the eggs turned out quite well and there was only one spill of the dye ~ so I would say it was a quite successful egg decorating party.
The kids had fun and the Mommys survived :)

The night before Easter, we had a little egg hunt for the boys. We knew that it wouldn't work on Easter cause we would barely be home. They followed the little trail of eggs to a special little present and thought it was quite fun.
Then, on Easter, the boys had an Easter egg hunt at church and another at our "substitute family" 's house later that day. They pretty much have way too much candy now.
Thankfully, after all that candy and being spoiled, Konrad was still able to tell me that Easter was about Jesus dying to forgive our sins and then coming back from the dead. It always makes me grateful that somewhere between the candy and selfishness of holidays that our kids still pick up on the good and true stuff too.

Happy Easter, Everyone!

Baby Trae is almost not a baby anymore! I can't believe he's already 10.5mths old!
Makes me sad. He's already trying to say words (has a very cute "waztha" (what's that)) and likes to repeat all sounds ~ he roars like a lion and has learned to make a toot sound from his brothers :) He loves to be involved in everything his brothers do ~ he tries to follow them everywhere and laughs at everything they do. He also is trying to walk a bit but Mommy discourages that as much as possible ~ I can barely keep track of him as a crawler!
Here's a few pics of his last few months...transforming from baby to toddler....

Trae loves his tongue ~ he used to always be hanging it out of his mouth and biting on it

8 month old Baby TraeTrae thinking that he should be standing already

(that's his little burned hand from touching a fireplace...poor little boy :( )
